June 29, 2007
Taiwan-based BenQ recently announced that it will roll out its first Smartphone enabled with NFC (Near Field Communications) solutions by the end of 2007. Related software and technical support will be supplied by a Canadian RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) solution provider Sirit, who inked the NFC contract with BenQ in June 2007. BenQ's NFC-enabled smartphone, codenamed E21, is reported to comprise various functions, including Easy Card, a pre-paid IC card for public transport in Taipei, as well as electronic wallet and security system.
